Packing License

Rule 27 of the Legal Metrology standards of 2011 stipulates that a packer or maker who also sells or distributes pre-packaged commodities must apply for the registration of packaged commodity. Packaged Commodity registration is the name for this process.

Within 90 days of beginning pre-packaging, the maker or packer must apply for a packaged commodities registration or packing license.

Interested businesses in India need to apply for a Packer License to the Department of Legal Metrology.

The Legal Metrology Act of 2009 specifies the requirements for obtaining a Packer License in India. The Department of Legal Metrology grants the company a Manufacturing Certificate after carefully considering the company’s application for the necessary licenses.
